From Al-Qarawiyyin to Bologna, institutions began granting degrees. Education became structured, professionalized, and protected, paving the way for specialization.

6. The Printing Press (1440)

Gutenberg made books cheap. Knowledge exploded beyond academic walls. Self-directed learning became possible on a mass scale for the first time.

7. The Factory Model (1800s)

To serve the industrial age, education was standardized. Rows, bells, and tests. Highly efficient for scale, but it often ignored individual differences.

8. Educational Psychology (1900s)

We began understanding *how* we learn. Montessori, Dewey, Bloom. A shift from 'what to teach' to 'nurturing the child's mind'.

9. The Digital Age (2000s)

Internet, Wikipedia, MOOCs. Access became free and instant. The challenge shifted from 'access' to 'attention' and 'application'.

10. The Agentic Era (Now)
